Position Summary:

The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for commercial roofing projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of TPO, EPDM, PVC, Mod-Bit, metal, and roof coating systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimate Preparation:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather necessary information.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to develop accurate and competitive bids.
Bid Management:
- Analyze and interpret bid documents, contracts, and proposals.
- Submit bids on time and follow up on submitted bids to secure projects.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients and suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and bid results.
Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure estimates align with project goals and constraints.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and project kick-off meetings.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and schedules.

Market Research and Networking:
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Review and analyze completed projects to improve future estimating accuracy.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial roofing estimation or a related field.
Skills:
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., EDGE, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Stack).
- Strong understanding of various commercial roofing systems and construction methods.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., RRO, CDT) are a plus.
Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct site visits, including climbing ladders and walking on roofs.

Work Environment

Office environment with occasional site visits.
May require travel to job sites, client meetings, and industry events.
